I saw Iron Man last night.

Thankfully, hubby and I saw it before 6, when we came out around 7ish there were what looked like high schoolers lined up for the 8pm showings. The movie was good, a bit thin on plot but origin stories usually are. I think I enjoyed it so much (as opposed to the fantastic four) because Robert Downey, Jr is such a good actor that he made me forget the fact that the movie was mostly action and not plot.

I've found that I tend to enjoy comic book movies a lot more when they have good actors in them. I mean, you need someone like Ian McKellen, who can walk around for a couple hours in a cape and not look ridiculous.

According to wiki we should see iron man make a brief cameo in the upcoming Hulk movie. Speaking of the Hulk movie, I have seen zero advertising for it here in the bay area. It's like a secret movie and its coming out next month.  Maybe I'm watching the wrong channels, but  I've seen Iron Man commercials, but not Hulk ones.  Apparently this new movie rewrites the origin story.  I may be in the minority, but I actually liked the Ang Lee movie (it did drag in places) and Eric Bana was a good incredible hulk.

Also, not that anyone reads my journal, but stay until the very end of the credits of Iron Man.

After the movie we went to Pamplemousse.  We actually stayed and had some pastries, instead of doing our usual pop in and out buy of brioche and macarons.  The french style macarons are incredibly delicious, plus they come in a wide variety of flavors from anise, to rose, to grapefruit (pamplemousse), to cassis (blackcurrant), to green tea, to chocolate.  At $1.95 a cookie they may seem a bit pricey, but they are worth every penny.  Every so often the hubby and I purchase a couple each because we can't stay away.  I favor the cassis flavor macaron myself.  We often pick up some brioches for breakfast the next day as well (about $3.50ish).  They are fairly large, and the huckleberry brioche is quite tasty.

Yesterday, we stayed and had some pastries (range from $3.5-$6 in price).  Hubby had an eclair, which he liked.  I'm actually amazed because he's quite picky about those.  When we've been in before I've seen a pamplemousse (grapefruit) pastry which I was keen on trying, however, it wasn't available so I had a cassis flavored dessert which consisted of cassis flavored mousse on top of rosemary infused chocolate cake with a tiny cassis flavored macaron on top.  The presentation was beautiful and the rosemary complimented the chocolate nicely.  At other time hubby has had a lady grey tea chocolate pastry, which he claims is good too.   Yesterday they also sported a pineapple turnover which we were quite tempted by, but will try another time.

I'm off to grade midterms.
